Palawan Hope Christian School (PHCS) showcased the literary prowess of its students through its annual literary contest held on November 20 to 21, 2023, at the Multi–Purpose Hall. 

The contest, themed “Echoes of Faith: Rediscovering Old Testament Narratives,” aimed to inspire pupils and students to delve into the rich stories of the Old Testament and bring them to life through various literary forms. 

The contest was divided into four levels: Choral Recitation Level 1 for grades 1 to 3 pupils, Speech Choir Level 2 for grades 4 to 6, Chamber Theater Level 3 for grades 7 to 9 students, and Chamber Theater Level 4 for grades 10 to 12 students. 

Each level featured participants showcasing their creativity and talent in storytelling, performance, and teamwork. 

The judges, composed of renowned literary experts and educators, were impressed by the high caliber of the performances. 

In the Choral Recitation Level 1, the Grade 3 – Gentleness pupils captivated the audience with their rendition of Psalm 138, their harmonious voices and expressive gestures brought the story to life and celebrated the intimate care of God in the myriad places. 

Grade 6 – Confidence pupils delivered a powerful performance of David’s prayerful meditation of God’s omnipresence and omniscience based on Psalm 139 for Speech Choir Level 2. 

Chamber Theater Level 3, Grade 9 – Humility students left an unforgettable impression with their prevailing portrayal of the “Ten Plaques.” 

Moreover, for Chamber Theater Level 4, Grade 12 – ABM Mixed students enthralled the audience with their compelling interpretation of Job’s story. 

A distinguished panel of judges recognized the outstanding performances of the contestants, spotting the high quality of creativity, storytelling, and teamwork demonstrated at all levels. 

Principal of PHCS, Ms. Nanette G. Heredero expressed pride in the achievements of the learners and emphasized the importance of such events in fostering all-round development that encourages them to connect with their faith through exploring the stories of the Bible. 

The school remains committed to providing the pupils and students with opportunities to grow and cultivate their talents while fostering a love for learning and a strong sense of faith.
